Location: Atlanta, GA (preferred) | Chicago, IL (secondary)
About GAINS
GAINS is on a mission to make supply chains smarter, faster, and self-improving, powered by AI. Our decision intelligence platform doesn't just support decisions, it drives them by aligning strategy, planning, and execution across every level of the supply chain. We serve inventory-intensive industries where the stakes are high and the complexity is real, helping customers move from reactive, spreadsheet-driven planning to continuously learning, AI-led operations that deliver measurable results fast. At GAINS, we call it Moving Forward Faster - and it's not a tagline, it's how we're redefining what's possible in driving supply chain decisions.
Job Overview
GAINS is seeking a Director of Professional Services to lead the successful delivery of complex supply chain design initiatives, ensuring that customers realize measurable business outcomes from their investments.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has personally led supply chain design work in industry, consulting, or at a software solution provider. The role is accountable for how work gets delivered—bringing structure, rigor, and judgment to ensure projects translate into real-world results.
You will be directly involved in managing and leading projects, guiding teams, and engaging with customers, stepping in where needed to drive execution and resolve challenges. This is not a role for passive oversight—it requires active leadership in delivery.
You'll work alongside other Directors, contributing to the practice's success while being directly accountable for project outcomes and team development.
What You Will Be Responsible For
Qualifications
This role is designed for individuals who want to lead at a high level while staying close to the work. It offers a path to broader leadership across delivery, customer impact, and solution development, with opportunities to influence how GAINS connects design decisions to operational execution.
High performers in this role will have the opportunity to expand their impact across the organization, shape delivery standards, advance solution capabilities, and contribute to the evolution of GAINS’ overall services and product strategy.

What You Will Be Responsible For
- You will take ownership of the quality of project execution across a portfolio of supply chain design engagements. This includes structuring work effectively, ensuring accountability, and driving projects to completion in a way that is both analytically sound and operationally viable.
- You will bring deep expertise in supply chain design, leading engagements involving network design, inventory strategy, transportation optimization, and scenario analysis. A critical part of the role is ensuring that models reflect real-world constraints and that outputs translate into clear, implementable decisions.
- You will be expected to challenge assumptions, improve approaches, and step in when projects are at risk—bringing the experience and judgment required to stabilize and drive successful outcomes.
- In parallel, you will mentor and develop team members, helping elevate how problems are structured, how clients are engaged, and how work is delivered. We expect you to raise the bar across the team, not just manage individual contributions.
- You'll work closely with customers as a credible, direct leader, setting expectations, navigating complexity, and ensuring engagements deliver tangible value.
Qualifications
- We are seeking candidates with 10–15 years of relevant experience, including direct, hands-on leadership of supply chain design initiatives. This experience should come from industry roles, consulting environments, or software solution providers, with clear accountability for delivering outcomes.
- Candidates should bring deep expertise in areas such as network design, inventory optimization (including multi-echelon), transportation optimization, simulation, and scenario-based decision making, along with experience using commercially available supply chain design and optimization tools such as Coupa Supply Chain Design & Planning (LLamasoft), Optilogic Cosmic Frog, AIMMS, or similar platforms. Just as important is the ability to connect these capabilities to real operational outcomes.
- Experience limited to internally developed tools or academic environments, without deployment to production, is insufficient.
- A strong foundation in supply chain, industrial engineering, operations research, or a related analytical discipline is expected. An advanced degree (MBA or MS) is preferred but not required.
- To succeed in this role, you'll need strong accountability and judgment, take ownership of outcomes, address issues directly, and maintain high standards of execution across projects and teams.
